Foundation Trainees Surgical Societies Conference 2025

Location: RCSEd, Edinburgh 

The RCSEd Foundation Trainees Surgical Societies have organised a national conference open to all medical students, junior doctors and core trainees aimed at providing an inspirational and informative event for those considering a surgical career. The main theme for this year’s conference is ‘Beyond the OR: the Modern Surgical Mindset.’ The conference aims to provide attendees with an interactive, insightful experience that addresses the changes to surgical training and modern challenges that surgeons may face. There will also be academic sessions with free papers for oral and poster presentation, aiding portfolio development and exchange of knowledge. In addition to the presentations and posters, a surgically themed quiz will offer a chance to win prizes and enhance your portfolio. 

West Midlands Surgical Society Conference

Location: Birmingham 

The College is delighted to be working in collaboration with the West Midlands Surgical Society to deliver its upcoming conference. The West Midlands Surgical Society was established in 1952. It is a multi-specialty regional society aimed at building and sustaining networks between consultants and junior doctors from different surgical specialties within the region. Through its meetings, the society provides a platform for presenting and publicising locally and regionally initiated research projects conducted within a regional, national or international setting.

RCSEd President’s Forums 

Dates and locations: 

25 September – Southampton

16 October – Liverpool

November (date TBC) – York 

The President’s Forums are evening events hosted by RCSEd President Professor Rowan Parks and the Regional Surgical Ambassadors. The evenings consist of talks on key issues currently affecting healthcare, how the College can be of support and topics that are of interest to the local audience.

Forums are free to attend, with food and refreshments provided. Local Affiliates, Members and Fellows plus non-members of all grades are welcomed. Please contact outreach@rcsed.ac.uk if you would like to find out more about these events.
